Art and Peace

Published on August 29, 2025

Of Chinese descent, LIN Xiang Xiong, born in 1945 in Singapore, has endured the trials of war and suffered from exile. The discovery of artistic practice was a revelation for him, and for over 60 years, painting has been a permanent activity for LIN Xiang Xiong. It has allowed him to navigate through difficult years with a dream in his heart.

On 14 December 2025, a museum dedicated to Peace will open on Penang Island in Malaysia. Entirely conceived and designed by LIN with the support of teams of architects and designers, this museum is the culmination of a project that has inspired the professor for many years.

From 10 to 13 September, LIN Xiang Xiong will present his works and his museum through 25 paintings displayed at the Hôtel de l’Industrie, in the Place Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

On 11 September, a symposium will focus on the theme Can Art Contribute to Peace?

Initially scheduled for 10 September, the opening will exceptionally be postponed to 12 September to take place simultaneously with the awarding of the LIN Xiang Xiong Art for Peace Prize, which LIN is sponsoring.

The Lin Xiang Xiong Art for Peace Prize competition concluded on 15 August 2025, and we are pleased to announce tremendous success: 1,883 artists from around the world participated in this event, which is dedicated to art and peace.

Another excellent piece of news: Philippe Djian, the renowned French writer, has agreed to chair the jury of the competition.

A novelist, short story writer, screenwriter, and lyricist, his work spans various literary genres. A prolific author, he has written over thirty novels, including 37°2 le matin, Impardonnables, Incidences, and Oh..., several of which have been adapted for film. His writing, marked by great freedom, is distinguished by a lively, incisive style deeply influenced by American literature.

The jury will select three laureates based on the relevance, creativity, and artistic quality of their work.
